The American Dollar – Awake in the City – 94%

Awake In The City cover art

I had been anticipating this album for quite some time. Their last two albums have been nothing short of incredible. This one doesn’t wait around and begins far faster than any American Dollar album I can remember. All the familiar elements are here, the atmospheric feeling that you’re at some sort of tropical resort feeling blue. Fantastic acoustic guitar work, melodic keyboards fighting their way into the spotlight of brilliantly weaved together sound walls Ahh, The American Dollar, you complete me. The perfect mix of uptempo electronic and post-rock. This album is perhaps the most mature The American Dollar album to date, it’s far tighter sounding than the last two. It feels like they’ve really hit their stride. Friends of Friends and Oracle  are  pretty much the greatest songs since Anything You Can Synthesize. A must listen to masterpiece. 3/25/12
